Addressing Keto Again

March 3, 2024June 19, 2025Leave a comment

Today Newsweek published an article on the keto (ketogenic) diet that I was included in for quotes. I had emailed the journalist my responses to her questions, so they were accurately written. However, it's always challenging in an online article limited in space and interviewing various people to include all the nuances of a topic. … Continue reading Addressing Keto Again

My Fave Top 3 SM Influencers

August 21, 2022April 19, 2023Leave a comment

And they just coincidently happen to be Asian. Honestly, I don't seek out Asian influencers! But since the pandemic started I've been surfing more on social media channels and keep coming back to these three. Maybe like others, I have a love-hate relationship with SM. I gave up Facebook about five years ago because I … Continue reading My Fave Top 3 SM Influencers

What About Intermittent Fasting?

April 30, 2022April 30, 2022Leave a comment

I've been following the intermittent fasting (IF) trend for several years but the new April study in the New England Journal of Medicine brought it the forefront again. I worked on an article about IF for the Nutrition Source in 2017, so it was reassuring that this new study was entirely consistent with our content! … Continue reading What About Intermittent Fasting?

Where’s the Protein?

October 17, 2021November 20, 20216 Comments

I talk a lot about protein in the clinic. It’s a major macronutrient; "macro" means that our bodies need it every day because it's essential for almost every cell in the body to function. Protein is used to make muscles, skin and hormones. In some cases, people get too much protein: maybe fitness-minded folks who … Continue reading Where’s the Protein?

Best Snacks for Diabetes

August 17, 2020August 17, 20201 Comment

About half the people I see in the clinic have some form of diabetes: prediabetes, type 1, type 2, gestational, or even a rarer type 1.5. The nutrition prescription for all of them shares one similarity—watch the total carbs. Carbohydrates are the one macronutrient that most affects changes in blood sugar (proteins and fats are … Continue reading Best Snacks for Diabetes

The Case for Cooking at Home

June 1, 2020June 1, 2020Leave a comment

Have you noticed new eateries popping up on every corner that offer healthful meals like grain bowls, veggie burgers, salads, and other items that are a far cry from the usual burgers and fries? Eating for health is a top consumer concern. I'm pretty excited about these new options and that most have tasted quite … Continue reading The Case for Cooking at Home

Surprised it was tasty. Baked tofu edamame black lentils kale cucumber tzatziki dressing👌 Most handsome best friends Rockwell & Cusco 🌈 Jake Class of 2025! 🥹🥰❤️🥳🧡🥲 not without struggle but you always pull ahead stronger. You are everything you need to be at this moment. You're my constant inspiration! On a noodle kick since Lunar New Year when I was celebrating with lo mein, chow fun, flat rice noodles etc..! 🍜 Easy: I just mix a stir-fry sauce with cooked noodles and add whatever's in the fridge. This has Gardein be'f tips, bok choy, sesame seeds and lots of green onion Really tired of storebought cookies that taste cheap, and wanted something without added sugar or artificial sweetener. Revisited these no-cook energy bites w stuff in my kitchen: PB, cashews, Fiber One cereal, oats, ground flaxseed, mini dark choc chips, and gifted dates I haven't used since Christmas. Also had out a beautiful jar of honey from my beekeeper friend @anaandmike🐝 but they didn't need extra sweetness today 🙂 Try these frozen! First time trying @lifealivecafe - wow so so good. Autumn Falafel and Green Goddess. I'm kinda bored with "healthy" vegan bowls that are so-so but these sauces and seasonings were seriously yummy 🤤 💯 Did you catch it? 😎 #eclipse2024 #bostoneclipse2024 #boston At least they’re being honest 🤷🏻‍♀️ Ahh-mazing Boston sunset last night pre-Lee caught by @sashbayat 🌅🧡💛❤️
